Surah Al-Anfal (8:38) Quran.com
Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them. Allah wants to make clear to you [the lawful from the unlawful] and guide you to the [good] practices of those before you and to accept your repentance. And Allah is Knowing and Wise. (Sahih International)
Surah Al-Kahf (18:55) Quran.com
And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.
